In this busy pain management practice, fellows learn to employ a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat a broad range of problems ranging from short-term acute pain to chronic back and neck pain to cancer pain to neuropathic pain. The goal of training is to prepare the fellow to be a consultant in pain management. Fellows receive training in theory, indications, risks, complications, and practical applications of the following procedures and techniques:Peripheral Nerve Blocks, Ganglion and Plexus Blocks, Nerve Stimulation, Epidural Steroid Injections Trigger Point Injections, Dorsal Column and Peripheral Nerve Stimulators, Morphine Pumps Chemical and Cryoneurolysis, Radiofrequency Neuroplasty These are frequently combined with the following to better treat the emotional and psychosocial aspects of patients’ pain problems:Physical therapy and exercise programs, Occupational therapy, Social services Drug detoxification programs, Psychotherapy and behavioral modification Those wishing more information on the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Pain Fellowship should contact: Dr. Ronny Hertz, M.D., D.D.S.
